The way that I first found myself at The Gulch probably isn't a common one. I was out for a run on a hot summer day last month, and had worked up a pretty serious sweat. When I got there, I was surprised to find out that it was so much more than that. While I had a quick and very friendly experience my first time at The Gulch, I have to say that I much preferred my return visit, because I knew exactly what I was getting into (or at least for the most part). The fact that the Gulch sells adult videos is a fantastic reason for them to stock as many different types of "VHS cleaner" (wink, wink) in addition to loads of different types of lube and sex toys for its customers to enjoy in the back of the shop.

I went on a Thursday because they have a discount where you can get into the arcade for only $5 provided you know the magic password (hint: it's "Suck dick. Save the world.")

There weren't that many guys there when I first showed up, so I decided to watch a little bit of porn to pass time, and see if maybe more guys came a bit later on.

Just as expected, more guys started coming in a little after 10, and I'm not going to get into any details, but remember that secret pass phrase to get in for $5? Well let's just say that I may have saved the world many times over. Hell, I might have even saved the moon!

CONCLUSION:

The Gulch was supposedly a very popular spot even though I hadn't heard about it before my first visit, but the more times that I go, the more I believe it. I haven't spent too much time talking to the regulars about what their experiences at the Gulch were before their renovations versus what they are after the renos, but the couple guys that I talked to (as well as the front counter staff) said that it's like night and day, and that I picked a great time to discover it.

I think the store and arcade are both laid out very well, and I think that anyone looking to cruise in the neighborhood will have a great time. Even if they hadn't renovated though, considering the dick quality I've found in the back, I'm pretty sure that I would have been a fan of the Gulch no matter what it looked like.

For only $10, you can get a full day of hookups, and I don't know any other place that offers a deal that good. Not even bathhouses on their deepest discounted days can match that price, and I really don't know of a spa in the city that can match the quality of service I've received at the Gulch glory holes either.

Pros

Though not the fanciest place in the world, what do you expect from an underwear, porn, and sex toy shop with a cruising spot in the back. This isn't the Holiday Inn, and that's fine. The Gulch offers a really great little pitstop for anyone who's looking to either get some new underwear, sex supplies, or even just a quick bj in the back.
  
The shop offers a great selection of just about anything you might need to make a sex session to the next level. Even though I wasn't expecting to buy anything when I went to take advantage of their glory holes, but I ended up browsing the shop because of how friendly the staff member behind the cash was. I wasn't sure if he was hitting on me or not, so I wanted to stick around for a little while to see how it played out. It was fun having me show me which of the dildos and butt plugs were his favorite, but he mentioned his partner after about 10 minutes. Better luck next time! I still bought a new pair of sexy drawers though, and a couple bottles of Double Scorpio VHS cleaner just in case the weekend got wild.
  
The overall cleanliness of the shop and arcade are huge pros in my opinion, because it could be easy to let that slip considering it's essentially two businesses in one building, and only the shop is supervised.

Cons

I feel weird about nitpicking a the Gulch because it really does offer just about everything that you could want it to, and all of the cons about the place are predicable, and shouldn't be a surprise to anyone with any business sense.
  
Yes, the shop's prices on sex toys and underwear is a little bit high, but for the most part, you're there for the arcade, and the majority of the supplies that you need to have a good time there like VHS cleaner, condoms, and lube are all very reasonably price, so you aren't being gouged too badly on them.
  
If you have a bit too much fun in the back room though, and need a new pair of undies, well then you're going to have to pay a premium for being such a bad boy. It's only fair.
  
And considering the entrance being a day pass that allows you go come and go as you please throughout the day, you're really getting a great value on that pass to start, so the savings being given to those cruising the spot are being offset by the items sold in the shop. I don't think that the prices are too outrageous either way though. It's just a bit of a markup.
  
That I went to an empty arcade isn't the best, but like I said, it filled up fairly quickly, so it shouldn't be a problem if you go to the Gulch during busier hours.
