Eros San Francisco Sex Club Review

INTRODUCTION:

A couple friends of mine were in San Francisco recently, having a bit of fun, and when they got back and we went out for beers, they told me that next time I was there, I had to go to Eros. They know that bathhouses are my jam, but that I'm also super picky about which ones I'll go to. So I was going in confident that I was going to enjoy it.

I hadn't been to SF in a long time, but friends were getting married there, so I added a couple extra days to my trip after the wedding so I could catch up with some friends, and of course spend some time in San Francisco sex clubs.

I knew that there was another bathhouse in town that was part of a chain, and I'm a member at one of their other locations, so that would be a safe backup for fun hookups if I needed to bail on Eros for some reason.

Thankfully when I got to Eros, I knew immediately that I had not been given false information, and it really was a bathhouse that met almost all of my extremely difficult to meet criteria for a great bathhouse.

One of my biggest peeves about bathhouses these days is that they don't open until late. Eros was open for business at noon. I rarely eat breakfast, so by noon, I was starving.

Check out the Eros Sex Club Review on EasySex.com, and you'll quickly learn all you need to know to walk into the bathhouse like you're a regular there!

ABOUT:

Eros proudly states that it's locally owned and operated, and you can definitely tell. That isn't a backhanded compliment either. It simply means that it's not the largest bathhouse you're ever going to be in, and if it's busy, you're likely to be rubbing up on some other guys while you're hooking up. Call me wild if you must, but I love that sort of close quarters bathhouse action.

Eros opens every day a noon, so if sex in the afternoon is your thing, you're in luck. I remember a time when bathhouses were open around the clock, but those days seem to be largely gone. Instead of complaining, I'll take noon.

When you walk into the first floor lounge, you may wonder why there are hunks just sitting on the leather couches, hanging out instead of having sex. There's certainly some light petting and making out in the lounge from time to time, but primarily it's a space where members can just chill and hang out with some other men. It's a popular spot to wait for your massage.

That's right, I said 'massage.' We all know that one of the most important parts of a spa is a masseuse or masseur, so why do so many gay spas not bother with them? Well Eros knows what's what, and has great massage facilities, including a heated massage table. Massages stop at 10 PM because of some city bylaw, so be sure to book early.

All of the other things like showers, sauna, and play rooms round out he facilities.

FEATURES:

-Nobody under 18 will be admitted

-All new members are required to present photo ID upon joining the spa

-Opens 7 days a week at noon

-Frequent specialized events that cater to specific groups such as bears and bear lovers, or a free play party for the trans community

-Intimate but clean facilities including showers, a lounge, sauna, and group play area

-A masseur frequently visits the spa when his services are reserved in advance by members, and performs incredibly relaxing massages on a heated massage table

-Located in the spa's lounge s the Eros Gallery, a space which shows off hot and sexy art by artists whose work is a little too spicy for the walls of your favorite stuffy museum

-Safe sex must be practiced at all times

-Eros offers a community room which can be rented by members to hold parties, classes, gay weddings, or whatever other types of events they may run

-There are 3 different types of membership options to choose from (6 month for $13, 12 month for $35, or the SPUNK! membership which is a 6 month membership for $13 that's only available to men between the ages of 18 and 29)

-All members are automatically signed up for Eros' "Frequent Fucker" rewards program, which entitles them to a free entry for every 9 paid entries

-If you're feeling a little down in the dumps because of your age, cheer up and know that members save $3 on entry every time they attend Eros during their birthday month

CONCLUSION:

Run, don't walk to Eros. There may be a couple small things that I have issue with, but they're probably things that you won't mind one bit.

The vibe is one of the coziest I've ever experienced at a San Francisco bathhouse, and considering the fact that rent prices keep going up and up in the city, it's a miracle that it's still open in a lot of ways.

I want Eros to still be open so badly when I next find my way back to San Francisco, so please if you live in the San Francisco area, or are there on a trip, visit Eros, and spend a lot of money there. They offer free condoms, lube, and gloves, so you'll be saving money on those supplies... so forget what I said about the price of massages. Get those massages, and then enjoy as many free condoms as you can.

If you're looking for a space to rent for a wild birthday party, or even just a meeting for a group of your sex-positive friends, also consider renting the spa's community room. It's touches like that that really put Eros over the top for me.

Pros
  • When my friends told me that I would love Eros, they were spot on. It truly has everything that I expect from a bathhouse.

While it's nice to go to shiny expensive spas from time to time, it's bathhouses like Eros that remind us of a time when the cruising scene had a little more personality to it.

As I said before, the close quarters in many of the spa's rooms are a huge plus for me, and I wish that there were more well-kept bathhouses like this one that embraced their limitations as impressively.

The men that were at Eros on the night that I went were almost all top notch hunks, so I had plenty of fun while I was there.

I didn't know about the massages in advance of my going, so I wasn't able to have one, but there's nothing better than going to a spa, hooking up with a few guys, and then enjoying a nice firm rubdown that hurts way more than you expected it to.

My love of early entry would pay off in spades if I lived in San Francisco, because you can get off for more than 50% off the general admission price if you're there between noon and 12:30PM. Not much of a window, but it's a great way to get people into the spa earlier in the day, instead of having to wait for people to roll out of bed mid-afternoon.

Cons
  • I had a wonderful time at Eros, and for me to nitpick really doesn't make sense to me. There's so much good stuff going on here, that I really can't understand how anyone except maybe for a much younger generation who's used to a slicker product, not enjoying themselves at the spa.

While I love that the spa offers massages to their members, their rates are slightly high when you add them onto the entry fee and membership charge that you already paid. Perhaps I'm bad at math, and there's a way that it becomes more affordable the more you go, but since I was only there for the one day, it wouldn't have made much sense to get a massage even if I'd been able to book a slot last minute.

When I went to Eros, I was a little bit confused by the lounge area. I understand it in theory, but it seems so disconnected from the rest of the spa that it almost feels like it's a waiting room for men who're a little nervous about going into the showers. Again, I could be wrong, and it might be the great social setting that the Eros website claims it is. Next time I'm in town, I'll definitely allot an extra 30 minutes to an hour to chill in the lounge.

Unlike most bathhouses that I'm a fan of, Eros doesn't offer on-site HIV testing. That's a bit disappointing, even though they link nearby testing sites on their website.
