Bowery Bliss NYC Sex Club Review

INTRODUCTION:

When it comes to open relationships, there's probably no better place to be in one than in New York city, where you just naturally feel like you have the rest of the world to choose from (of course, your partner can feel the same way, but that's the nature of an open relationship in the first place). My partner and I first got into swinging through friends of ours, but they only seemed to do this with people they knew. When my partner and I took that leap to actually swing with strangers, we decided to do a bit of homework first.

We settled on trying Bowery Bliss, which was easy to get to since it's right near the subway station, but the easiness and relaxation keep going throughout the night, and for a couple of near-newbies in the world of sex club, we had a great time, and are sure you will, too.

ABOUT:

Like the name suggests, Bowery Bliss definitely gives you a New York spin on the sex club experience, as there's exposed brick for one of the walls. It's a good thing it's three floors, because that main entrance one gets packed quickly on a Friday or Saturday night. With the dance floor only being able to hold about twenty people if you really pack them in, it's easy to gravitate upwards, where are there's a bit more space and some private rooms and public beds, and the third floor is totally clothing optional.

You have to be a member to get in, but you can pay the $20 fee when you show up for the first time (but call ahead to let them know you're coming), and then pay the door donation, which can be between $60 to $120 per couple, depending on the night (usually more expensive during weekends). A good way to save money, though, is by bringing your own booze, since they don't serve any here. On our first visit, the staff was very courteous, and throughout the night you could tell that they were doing a great job at keeping the place clean.

Because it's the Big Apple on a Friday night, you can bet that the place will quickly get packed, and there around one hundred people there when we attended. It wasn't long before we started chatting with another couple and made our way to one of the rooms, but because it was occupied, we just moved up to the third floor and started going at it on one of the sofas. It's great when you can find a place this flexible.

CONCLUSION:

If you were to imagine the four words 'New York sex club', I'm pretty sure the Bowery Bliss is what will come to your mind. It's not the newest and best designed place, but locals who swing love it anyway and flock to it on the weekends. Going from floor to floor is almost worth the price of admission alone, and with so many people, you and your partner have an excellent to shack up with another hot couple.

The first few times we attended, it really was thanks to the great staff that really relaxed us and made sure we were having a good time at first. You realize then that what makes a good sex club is not just the members, but how the staff and members interact with each other, and that sort of community is seen in full force at Bowery Bliss.

Pros
  • For being in an older building, Bowery Bliss is extremely clean, and that has a lot to do with having a very attentive and helpful staff. If $120 seems a tad too much for a weekend night out, just realize that this is where your money's going. If I do say so myself, having tried out some lesser quality sex clubs, the difference of having a clean, relaxed atmosphere is huge. It's also a sign that the place is well run and is considerate of its members when they offer free condoms to promote safe sex, but also free food and drinks throughout the night (being able to eat a bag of chips at two in the morning goes a long way, since sex works up a lot more of an appetite than dancing).

And it's clear that word has gotten around that this is a hot joint, because it gets really busy here on weekends, and since variety is the spice of life, it's great when there are so many people who you might be able to meet (and more!). I really enjoy the odd theme parties they have, because it's one of the few chances where you can go to a toga party outside of college.

As an odd bonus that one of the managers mentioned to me, they have a nationwide partners program. If you are a member of certain swingers club in another city, they'll waive the membership fee if you name drop 'Bowery Bliss'. My partner and I like to travel often, so maybe we'll take advantage.

Cons
  • Depending on how you feel about exposed brick and not the best lighting setup, some people will probably say that the Bowery Bliss looks a bit old fashioned. After all, zebra print sofas and chairs haven't aged well, but that kind of disappears from your mind when you focus on who's sitting on them. For some people, I can see how just looking around as soon as you step inside, you'll find the atmosphere a deal breaker.

Space being limited, they had no choice but to add floors, but that still means it can feel really crammed on a Friday or Saturday night, with no place to sit, let alone being able to get on a bed or even a couch. So the place could use some more semi-private rooms, or just something that could section off some areas, because a large main room with a bar along one wall and some sofas and chairs isn't exactly the best spot to really start getting it on. I also found that the dance floor was a bit small, but I guess the silver lining to this is that it's a good way to get closer to people.

If you're a couple, I'd suggest trying to avoid the nights where they allow single men, as they quickly seem to take up the place.
