Dominion Sex Club Review

INTRODUCTION:

Okay, fine, I'll admit it. My partner and I are one of those '50 Shades of Grey' people, who really didn't get interested in or even start considering BDSM until we rented the movie on one of our stay-in date nights. And sure, we comically tried to incorporate a bit of what we saw into our bedroom the next few nights, but we were giggling or rolling our eyes half the time. But over the next few weeks we looked into it a bit more seriously, and one of the best things about living in a city like LA is that you have more than BDSM studio to choose from.

One of my friends mentioned Dominion, a place over in Culver City that had been there since the early eighties, and was a great spot where you can learn just as much as you can have fun. If it's right for you, of course, but that's why you go the introductory classes first, to find out if order your partner around on all fours to kiss your feet is something both of you want to explore.

So keep reading below to find out all about Dominion, here on EasySex.com!

ABOUT:

Dominion looks just a little bit out of place in a mostly industrial area in Culver City, being an older victorian house across the street from a massive warehouse. But that's nothing compared to how different it looks once you step inside. Once past the main foyer, you'll find nine separately themed rooms, including one specially designed for the longtime owner and headmistress of Dominion, Lady Hillary. You aren't wandering through these freely, of course, because you have to be here for either an introductory class - like my partner and I were - or an actual session with one of the dominatrixes (or doms, for sort), which can last anywhere from thirty minutes to two hours.

Fortunately we weren't subjected to that (yet!), and were instead treated to a very lighthearted and open talk about the roots of BDSM, and how it can be used an occasional form of play in a relationship, as well as a huge part of someone's lifestyle. Many people come here more than once a week to have a session where they either play the role of the submissive or the role of the dominant (the Dominion has a wide staff that can cater to either). And with each room here having a slightly different theme and filled with crazy pieces of erotic furniture (some of them are dungeons with 'torture' equipment and cages, and others are like 1950s-style living rooms), it's that much easier for the setting to play a big role in your fantasy.

CONCLUSION:

I never expected that learning more about yourself - and that's definitely what a big step into the world of BDSM is - could be so freeing and fun, and I don't think my partner and I could have chosen a better place than Dominion to do this. Not only was it a great place to take the first few baby steps of learning about BDSM, but since the entire staff gets to know you better the more often you come for sessions, you build up a very specific rapport with them, and it shows in the play.

It's no surprise to me that Los Angeles has become something like a ground zero to the fetish community, because it really is just an extension of the ideal world Hollywood has shown us for decades now. But at Dominion, you can go beyond watching your fantasies and live them, if only for a couple of hours per week. My partner and I have attended some fetish parties in the last few months, and they're fun, too, but when we want to get serious about BDSM role-play, we always come back to the Dominion.

Pros
  • By focusing pretty much exclusively on having closed sessions throughout the week, Dominion ensures that it is giving the purest form of the BDSM experience. No big parties on Friday or Saturday to drum up business, you come here when you want to let loose or be let loose upon. And if that sounds a bit rigid, the flexibility and accommodations they can make for session appointments are great. My partner and I were thrilled when we could live out a longtime fantasy in their school/detention room together, plus the dom playing the role as teacher. Soon we both were getting spanked with wooden rulers, but it wasn't long before we turned the tables on her and she was the one was being forced to bite down on an apple to prevent her moans from being heard!

Even just recalling that moment has gotten me a bit excited, but it just goes to show how the most important part of this fantasy is your imagination, and your willingness to explore your fantasies as far as you want them to go. Dominion is the perfect place to make your kinky desires to come true, and with such a great selection of rooms, scenarios, and doms, subs (staff who enjoyed being dominated by guests), and switches (staff who can go from dominant to submissive very easily) to choose from, you'll never run out of arousing combinations.

Cons
  • It is important to note that Dominion is a BDSM club, not a sex club, and that any sort of acts relating to intercourse or any sort of genital-genital or oral-genital play are not permitted. While this will be explained early on in your first introductory class, many people in the BDSM knows it bears repeating, because the stereotype is that a bit of spanking is just foreplay before intercourse, which is not the case at all. There are many swingers clubs in LA, so if that's what you're looking for, do not bother coming to Dominion.

A more practical drawback is that one-on-one play - while extremely rewarding on physical, mental and emotional levels - can become quite expensive, with an hour-long session averaging around $200. Depending on how serious you want to take this aspect of your new lifestyle, certain costumes and accessories won't be cheap, either.

While it's great that Dominion focuses pretty much exclusively on sessions with doms or submissives, I found it a shame that they didn't have any larger events or parties, as I thought that would be a great way to meet other BDSM fans in the community. Fortunately, being in LA, there are plenty of other fetish-focused get togethers my partner and I could attend. But if the people who ran this place put one on, I bet it would be amazing.
