INTRODUCTION:
Some people might say that the internet has made it harder for people to connect face to face, but I think that just means you're not using it correctly. Yes, if you just want to bury your nose in the screen, that's all you get, but the internet has also made it possible for a lot of people who might want to connect in real life connect through cyberspace first. I can't imagine how you would be able to join a sex club before the internet, because it's not like that would be in the phone book.
For my partner and I, we were always interested in the possibility of trying an open relationship (not just because I travel a lot, but because we thought it might be fun), but we were hesitant to take a step into an actual sex club. Thanks to a google search and some message boards, we found this great swingers club that's focused on the Boston area called Soiree Carnalis, and it's just as fun and fancy as its name suggests. Hosting various events across the city, it was a great opportunity to meet a lot of other sexy people and learn a lot about ourselves, too.

ABOUT:
It was actually reassuring that as soon as you go to the website for Soiree Carnalis, they tell you that you can't join up right away. It's easy to take the club a lot more seriously when they explain the vetting process and how important it is that you pay your monthly club fees, even if you are unable to attend any of the events for that month. All this put my partner and I at ease, because it means the administrators aren't out for a quick buck, and they only want people who are willing to commit to the time and effort to actually wait a bit before being allowed to come by and have a great time.
You even have to go to a meet and greet and begin paying membership fees ($40 per month for a couple, cheaper for single women, more expensive for single men) before you can attend the parties, which take place across Boston at various locations, from rented clubs or halls to hotel room suites. Almost all of them are centrally located to make it as easy as possible to reach. Once there, it may take a moment to get your bearings, but it can help that you recognize some of the people from before. And then it just becomes another party you might attend, only this time people are dressed extremely sexy. With drinks flowing and appetizers being nibbled, you might meet another couple and decide to head back to a play area to have a lot more fun.
Soiree Carnalis does a great job at making these parties more interesting by adding themes or contests, all of which make for great icebreakers before things can get a lot hotter and heavier.
