LGBTChat.net LGBT Dating Forum Review

0

INTRODUCTION:

I recently finally accepted that I'm bisexual, and have been excited (though admittedly a little nervous) about not just dating women anymore. The LGBT community seems very welcoming, but at the same time, t seems like it's very much based in being comfortable with your sexuality. Since I'm not quite there yet, I didn't want to hop on an app like Grindr that is going to rush me into a sexual situation that I may need to take my time with.

Maybe I'm over-thinking things, but I just want to take things slow. My coworker suggested that I check out some LGBT dating forums to start, and said that they had spent some time on LGBTChat.net in the past, with good results.

A forum and chat room was perfect for me, because it allowed me to just talk about things with other people who're LGBT, and I was even able to talk about my fears of having my first sexual experiences with another man.

A couple guys even said they wanted to go out with me for dinner, with no strings attached, and no expectation of sex at the end of the date in order to help me see that I was being nervous for no reason. The odds of finding that on an LGBT hookup app are slim to none.

ABOUT:

LGBTChat.net is a fairly standard looking web forum. So much so that if you weren't paying close attention, and only looked at the forum's General Discussion sub-forums, you might not even know it was one of the best LGBT dating forums around.

It's actually nice to see how well the forum's membership actually gets along with each other in those general forums, because on days when you're not looking to hook-up, but still want to talk about stuff with other LGBT folks, you can just settle in and talk about what happened on last night's Bachelor, or even share a funny meme that your straight friends would never understand.

When you reach the forum's sections for "THE COMMUNITY", you'll find forums of all kinds. There's forums for questioning people who aren't quite sure if they're LGBT (this forum would have been very helpful to me a couple months ago, let me tell you!), as well as Gay, Lesbian, Bi and Pansexual, Transgender, Transexual sections.

One additional sub-forum in the LGBT section f the site is for parents and guardians of LGBT+ children. It's not the site's most popular forum, but there are some heartfelt conversations in there.

Membership for the forums is free, but there are ads. All you need to do to remove the ads is pay a one time $5 charge to support the site.

There are lots of great people, and thankfully some of them just happen to be hot and single, and looking for some action.

FEATURES:

-Free membership for the ad-supported version of the forum (you can pay $5 to remove ads forever, and enjoy chatting with hot LTBG folks without being sold anything)

-Typically hundreds of members are online at all-times, so you will never be without someone to talk to

-The easy to view "Recent Posts" tab allows members to see the forum's most recent posts for quick reference

-With over 47,000 messages, LGBT Chat's "Introduce Yourself" forum is one of its most popular, and allows you to let the site's membership what you're all about

-The forum's Media section is a place where members can post memes they've created, or the latest cute pictures of themselves

-See who in the membership is active by checking out the "Online Now" and "Online Today" tabs

-Members who enter and decide to make their birthdays public can receive birthday wishes from the forum

-Follow LGBTChat.net on some of your favorite social media networks like Facebook and Twitter

-Forum moderation and a dedicated forum for feedback, suggestions, & bugs lets you know that the site's owners care about their membership's user experience

-Trigger Warning labels available for when members post potentially triggering stories (another way LGBTChat keeps your experience pleasant)

-Direct messages allow you to send private messages to members so you can setup dates or hook ups without everyone knowing your business

-2-Factor authentication to ensure that your personal details and messages are secure

-Chat rooms allow you to message with people in real-time

CONCLUSION:

My small issues with the site aside, LGBTChat.net is an incredible chat site and dating forum for the LGBT community, and I'm looking forward to finding more dates through the site. In fact, I think I'll delete my post about wanting to date without the sex, and just go out on a normal date with some cute stud that I find on the site.

Being able to talk on a daily basis with other bisexuals has been great for making me feel more comfortable in my own skin, and better prepared to take advantage of the dating opportunities that LGBTChat.net offers me.

If you think that it might not be the best LGBT dating forum for you based on my review though, Easy Sex has so many more

Pros
  • People might not expect an online forum to have much to offer aside from a very basic design and message board functionality. While LGBTChat.net certainly does have a fairly basic look at first glance, when you dig deeper, you'll find a much more advanced forum.

One of my favorite options that the board offers is different themes, so that members can customize the look of the forum when they visit it. Sometimes I'm looking for a high contrast look, and sometimes low. Just like everyone is looking for something different in a partner when they come to an LGBT dating forum, they also respond to different color palettes and layouts to best suit their needs.

The forum has a tremendous team of moderators that are very good about making sure that the forum isn't ever spoiled by trolls. The world we live in is obviously much more accepting of the LGBT community than it once was, but there's still a lot of work to do, and on top of that, there are just a lot of bored teenagers who love ruining nice things that other people have.

Being able to bookmark forum threads is something that I wish more online forums had as an option. Some topics are evergreen, so you could have something to add to it 4 months after the last time someone posted in the thread, and it's been buried by newer posts. Thread bookmarking solves that problem.

Cons
  • This may be a silly thing to complain about... Actually, I know for a fact that it is, but remember those sweet guys who offered to go out with me with no expectation of sex at the end of the date? Well both dates went relatively well... Well enough that I would have had sex with them, but both of them said that they thought it was best to not.

I guess that's not even the fault of the forum. That's on me. It's really tough to find faults in LGBT Chat though. The designers have really thought about most of the things you'd want from a great LGBT dating forum.

The site's Media section is actually a bit of a disorganized mess. It would be much more useful if every user had the ability to upload images within their own small allotment of server space, and then add that media to their forum posts if they choose to.

I understand why there aren't that many threads in the forum for parents or guardians of LGBT+ children, but it would be nice if it was more active. Perhaps the owners of the site could register a new domain that links directly to that forum, so that it's easier for the parents to find. As it is, it might feel to them as though they're intruding in space that's reserved for the LGBT community. After all, what if their children are members of the site, and they read something that they weren't meant to?
