CONCLUSION:

I would recommend EmoForum.de in a heartbeat. Mostly because I have had a wonderful time using it and I'd like to continue the experience. This is not my first forum experience, but it's definitely one of the very best. For me, the emo culture here represented here was enough sign for me that I was home. The fact that I could discuss emo style with people that were as interested as me was a good sign. I ended making more friends than I'd expected, and I am still chatting with them today, months later. Some of our friendships have extended beyond the forums' confines, and we now follow each other on social. It's nice to know that half the people you're chatting with aren't bots, and that they are not bullies or trolls out to attack from within. I got more tips on style than I'd ever got before, and my dressing has improved as a result. All this happened of course on a great website - full credit to the designers - whose layout was the most modern I've seen in a while. No spammy ads, no littering of porn and nudity everywhere. That essentially explains why I would gladly give this forum a referral if asked. I've had a great time here, and I would love for any other emo to have the same. In the months I have been a member of this platform, I have managed to draw in as many as 10 new members, basing on my recommendation. I will gladly do more if the site improves as well.

Pros

If I were to list the things about EmoForum.de that I loved, the list would be endless. I always have fun using the forum, and I always have, ever since I checked in. For me, the very first positive experience I ever had was receiving many responses to my first post, which was basically an introductory post. It made me realize how popular this site was, and why I needed to be here. The folks here are really welcoming, despite the fact that they speak mostly German. You could smell their enthusiasm. The site text being in German was a new experience for me, but ultimately it added to the whole experience of authenticity on the site. I loved the site design too - modern and contemporary. The layout, as a result, was easy to navigate, and the coloring of the website was easy on my eyes. I tend to be critical of sex forums for being too straightforward, but I loved EmoForum.de for being both subtle and straightforward at the same time. Its topics and forums are strictly based on emo culture, which is helpful. In the meantime, it doesn't go all out promoting nudity and hookups through the platform; users just know how to get around that. I personally had no trouble meeting new people, but most were far away. EmoForum.de is also one of the websites that require signing up for a membership, and for the first time I wasn't so averse to the idea. The people here were super welcoming that one just had to become a member. I am sure I will be a member for longer, because I think it's actually worth it.

Cons

As someone who found themselves on an emo platform they didn't know existed and yet ended up falling in love with what they found, my love for EmoForum.de is virtually unshakeable. That doesn't mean that EmoForum.de is free of negatives. I personally found the German text largely obstructing, mainly because while I can speak German, am not that good at reading it. I tried translating the whole page to English but that's only really a half solution. I ended up forcing half my private chat participants to use English. And although the design is seriously modern and cool, I didn't like how tacky and congested it looked to me. I also don't remember seeing much of a list of rules or etiquette when using the forum, which would have been very handy when trying to avoid suspension by moderators.

The moderators were great at what they do, but they sometimes slacked off, especially during the slower days, which would lead to bad actors gaining some influence. The other downside with EmoForum.de is that it's got days and seasons where it has a low audience, and during those days it can get pretty boring. I once sent out 6 messages without a single reply. Apparently, all 6 recipients were out on a national holiday break. That wasn't so great. One more unattractive aspect of the site is that it lacks any pictures anywhere, so it's all text, text and text and that quickly became super boring to my eyes and patience.
