Vice.com Sex Stories Site Review

INTRODUCTION:

Yes, it's that Vice. The big billion dollar one that has all those video channels and HBO series, and free magazines with weird articles and fashion ads. And if you know the way Vice rolls, then their sections on sex should come as no surprise. On the other hand, if you aren't familiar with multi-media company, then strap in, because it's about to get a bit sexy and bit weird.

Most sex story sites are pretty poorly made and haven't been updated in a decade. They're small offshoots from other larger porn sites that mainly make their money in cams and videos, so they don't bother putting much effort into the text side, even if there are still a lot of people who really get turned on by reading sex scenes. Vice.com isn't like that, it's a much more professional site. In fact, it's only a click or two from their sex stories pages to get back to their news site. It kind of makes for a disorienting experience, but as you learn more about Vice in general, they're totally okay with that.

I was, in fact, reading a completely unrelated article on the news site when there was a recommended story link for 'high school urban sex legends', and of course I clicked on that. Which was how I fell down the rabbit hole and got really turned on and weirded out over the next several hours.

But hey, keep reading here on EasySex.com to find out if the articles relating to sex on Vice.com are the right fit for you!

ABOUT:

Vice is both a magazine, online video channel and HBO TV series, and its founder has interviewed world leaders. But it still has that rebellious, anti-authoritarian spirit that started it, and nowhere is that seen better in there articles on sex. There might not be a lot of entries when you go to Vice.com, but it's just the first step in finding all the articles throughout the site that deals with all sorts of sexual experiences.

Topics range from 'People told us about their wildest one-night stands' 'What I Learned from working in a Gay Fetish Shop' , which means you're going from a very erotic article that many, many people are going to get turned on reading, to a more retrospective piece that talks about flashers, diapers, and dog masks (and it's in this second article that the 'up next' recommendations is an entry about artisanal butt plugs).

But that's the nature of the Vice site. It's always been open about it's embracing of the alternative, whether its politics or sex. So when you come to this site looking to read about the latter, then it's not at all like going to a small site with hundreds of exaggerated hook-up stories surrounded by banner ads. It's very professionally set up, with bright colours, easy to use links for their shops and other departments. For them sex is just another item on the menu, and they deserve a tip of the cap for that.

FEATURES:

-site is completely free to use

-no need to sign up or sign in to read the articles, they are accessible to everyone

-is an excellent resource to learn more about diversity and health in the adult industry and modern sexuality in general

-topic tags make it very easy to stay in the 'sex story/article' areas of the site

-many articles and stories have photos included, so you can get a visual taste of what's being described

-easy to share/tweet articles and stories you enjoyed to people you enjoy

-a newsletter is available if you want to be kept up to date with changes to the site

-'recommend stories' at the bottom of every article mean you can just read more and more of the stuff that really interests you

-has a section that focuses exclusively on LGBTQ issues

-no-pop ups, and most of the ads are just for other areas on the Vice webpages

CONCLUSION:

It's inaccurate to say that the Vice.com sex articles are like a car crash, where you can't help but crane your neck and stare as you pass by, but there's definitely a voyeuristic aspect to the whole thing. It feels like you're peering into a world of lust and forbidden desire that you never would have thought existed otherwise. But it's not gated off from you at all. It's an educational experience for your own fantasies, reading about new things that suddenly excite you.

Of course you can read some accounts of crazy hookups on Vice that will get you turned on, but there's going to be a lot of closed-eyes fantasizing after that if you really want to get off on that one quick anecdote, because there's a lot more desert than water here. Which I know sounds like a bit of a downer review, but that's not the case at all. I really like the way Vice looks at sex, and I check the site out a lot to learn a lot more about parts of the industry and the people involved that i never would have known otherwise. Plus, it's a great way to learn about new kinks that I can explore more fully in other areas across cyberspace.

Pros
  • Vice.com is weird, man, and thank goodness for that. They are completely comfortable with writing about Pokemon porn, adult entertainment exhibitions, and orgasm machines, treating each article with the right amount of seriousness and fun. Checking this site out and its dozens of pages of articles about weird sex in a funny, positive light is great. One of those rare mixes of getting turned on while actually learning something. And sometimes what you learn is to be more tolerant and sympathetic towards the many, many people in the sex work industry, from escorts to porn stars to people who are sales reps in an adult toy store.

Vice shines a light on how sex is both one of the most exciting and fun things humanity can do and also a giant business. So going back and forth between articles that investigate how these two worlds mix is a little jarring, but once you get used to it, you find yourself getting turned on from articles like 'photos from the four years I spent on a british porn set'. And it's that personal touch that is another one of the site's great qualities. I really enjoyed it when they ask their readers to submit their own stories and accounts of wild sexual experiences. While Vice might be a giant media company, it's little things like that which create a sense of openness and community that I couldn't wait to take part in.

Cons
  • Well, clearly Vice.com isn't a traditional sex story site, so if you want to just read a quick bit of fiction about two people who are well-endowed beyond belief, this site is not what you're looking for. In fact, the way Vice articles swerve from a very titillating description of a romantic encounter to a more embarrassing one of things getting stuck where they shouldn't, it can really ruin the mood in just a few seconds.

But in a lot of ways, that's why you keep coming back to the site, because I can't think of another place that looks at sex in the same way. It's a mix of mostly positive, occasionally indifferent and always strange, which means the romance factor is pretty low. Sometimes you might click on a piece that seems to be a sexy story, but it turns out to be an interview with a porn producer, explaining how the business has changed in the last several years.
